for Hypnotherapists connected and/or directly or indirectly working for and/or on behalf of NoSmokingAgain
a. Hypnotherapists connected to NoSmokingAgain.org who are engaged in the practice of clinical hypnosis/brief strategic therapy shall at all times conduct themselves in a manner that does not bring the discipline into disrepute. They shall not, under any circumstances, infringe the code of morality becoming their profession and shall not commit any breach of conduct that would adversely reflect upon them, or upon their fellow practitioners. They shall value integrity, impartiality and respect for the patient/client and shall seek to establish the highest ethical standards in their work.
b. Hypnotherapists connected to NoSmokingAgain.org shall refrain from improper conduct in their work as therapists that would be detrimental to the interests of recipients of their services or participants in their research.
c. Hypnotherapists connected to NoSmokingAgain.org shall recognise the boundaries of their own competence and not attempt to practice any form of therapy for which they do not have the required level of training. They shall also take all reasonable steps to ensure that others do not misrepresent their qualifications, capabilities or views.
d. Hypnotherapists connected to NoSmokingAgain.org shall not, under any circumstances claim, or imply, the certainty of cure for any condition to be treated.
e. Hypnotherapists connected to NoSmokingAgain.org shall never under no circumstances enter into a personal and/or intimate relationship or further their personal desires with a patient/client under their care.
f. Hypnotherapists connected to NoSmokingAgain.org shall endeavour to keep their patients’ affairs confidential and subject to the requirements of law, they shall take care to prevent the identity of individuals, organisations or participants in research being revealed, deliberately or inadvertently, without, their expressed permission.
g. Hypnotherapists connected to NoSmokingAgain.org shall accept that any patient referred to them by a medical practitioner remains the clinical responsibility of that practitioner and therefore shall agree to keep the latter informed of the patient’s progress.
h. Hypnotherapists connected to NoSmokingAgain.org shall under no circumstances advise their patients to discontinue any course of treatment as prescribed by a registered medical practitioner with the exception of NRT products.
i. Hypnotherapists connected to NoSmokingAgain.org shall insure that whenever a physical cause or condition is either known or suspected, treatment should only proceed after gaining permission from an appropriate qualified healthcare professional.
j. Hypnotherapists connected to NoSmokingAgain.org shall at all times respect the integrity of other recognised health care professionals. They shall only convey personally- identifiable information obtained in the course of professional work to others, with the expressed permission of those who would be identified.
k. Hypnotherapists connected to NoSmokingAgain.org shall refrain from laying claim, directly or indirectly, to qualifications, affiliations or skills they do not possess.
l. No hypnotherapists connected to NoSmokingAgain.org shall become or remain a member of any organisation that has been exposed to public scrutiny as dangerous or fraudulent or which in any way causes detriment to the profession of clinical hypnosis/brief strategic therapy.
m. Hypnotherapists connected to NoSmokingAgain.org shall not allow their professional responsibilities or standards of practice to be diminished by considerations of religion, sex, race, age, nationality, sexual preference, party politics, social standing, self-interest or other extraneous factors.
n. Hypnotherapists connected to NoSmokingAgain.org shall attempt to complete courses of patient treatment in every case, at the earliest possible opportunity.
o. Hypnotherapists connected to NoSmokingAgain.org shall hold full public liability insurance before undertaking any professional treatment with members of the public.
p. Hypnotherapists connected to NoSmokingAgain.org shall endeavour to keep abreast of new developments in the field of clinical hypnosis/brief strategic therapy and regularly undertake recognised post-graduate training.
