The procedure to stop smoking is as follows:

  1. If your knowledge of hypnosis and hypnotherapy is limited, we advise you to read the page about hypnotherapy (main menu) and find out what it is, how it works and what you can expect. There are various other pages with information, including a FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) page.
  2. The next step would be to register. Registration is mandatory to do the hypnotherapy. Answering the registration questions determines whether you are suitable or not, whether hypnotherapy is advisable and, if you qualify, which hypnotherapy modules are best for you.
  3. Answer those questions as truthfully as you can. The questionnaire also helps you to find out how much you really want to give up and how you have assessed your own smoking habit. It may happen that your answers indicate that you are not ready or that the hypnotherapy may not give you what you expect. The questionnaire also gives you practical advice if you do not qualify for the hypnotherapy.
  4. Your answers to the questionnaire also determine which approach will be the best for you and a modular hypnotherapy session is created in accordance with your assessed requirement.
  5. After the registration, you are sent a link to access to the first hypnotherapy session, so make sure you fill in the right e-mail address with your registration details..
  6. The next step is to read and understand the Pre-Therapy-Information page which will appear on your screen in a separate window and which should be read and adhered to (you need to allow pop-up windows for nosmokingagain.org)
  7. Depending on the speed of your internet connection, you can either do the session on line (broadband required) or download the audio file and listen to it on your PC via Windows Media Player (I-tunes on a Mac) or burn it to a CD or your IPod or Mp3 Player. Alternatively you can use Windows Media player to convert the file to an audio (wav) file, burn it to an audio CD and listen to it on your stereo.
  8. Listen to the first session.
  9. When the first hypnotherapy session has turned you into a non-smoker, you will require a second session (within 24 hour) and you will have received an e-mail with a link to the second session. The second session, is also created according to your answers to the questionnaire. The second session reinforces your non-smoker status and creates suggestions that turn you from a non-smoker into a non-smoker for life.
  10. The second session needs to be listened to preferably within 24 hours and then every evening before going to sleep for 10 days. Without the second session, there is a chance that the no-smoking status created in the first session may wear off.
  11. Listen to the second session every night for 10 days
